Responsibilities of a Guardian

Guardians can be named by a court for a person who is:

  • disabled
  • injured
  • ill
  • diagnosed with dementia
  • a child under 18

Some things that a guardian is responsible for handling are:

  • taking care of records and papers
  • arranging hospitalizations, living arrangements and travel plans
  • making decisions
  • finances
  • creating a will
